Charu Uppal 


Charu Uppal is a Senior Lecturer in the department of communication studies at Karlstad University. She has written papers and essays on transnational media, especially Bollywood and its place among the Indian diaspora. She has a keen interest in the role of tradition in maintaining identity, in our mediated society. Her current research explores how rituals are both maintained and modified across generations, in an attempt to preserve cultural identity in the digital age.
