Ravilochanan Aiyangar of the Indic Collective speaks with Ravish Ratnam about the proceedings of the Padmanabhaswamy temple case in Kerala HC while also addressing the broader aspects of state interference in the management of Hindu temples.
The Indic Collective Samvad is an attempt to bridge the gap between the court rooms and the world at large through conversations about the proceedings of the various legal cases that the Indic Collective Trust is fighting. We will try to minimize legalese and convey a clear understanding of the cases through regular conversations with the members of ICT.
The renovation of the Padmatheertham pond at the Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Kerala was undertaken by Kerala Nirmithi Kendra. However, it was found that the organization had insufficient knowledge of temple architecture to carry out the work competently, which was evident from the careless demolition of the old Saraswathy mandapam. After seeking a stay on the ongoing renovation work last week, ICT will be approaching the Supreme Court-appointed Committee to present our grievances on the matter. Shri Ravilochanan Aiyangar speaks to Ravish Ratnam about the case in detail and also answers general questions on temple manangement.
